Cardiovascular Equipment

1

Cross Trainers (x4):

Benefits - This piece of equipment exercises all major muscles and builds cardiovascular and muscle endurance in one complete workout. The Cross trainer has a smooth motion which results in virtually no impact to the knees and other joints.

5

Treadmills (x4):

Benefits - Many people have trouble maintaining a regular routine of exercise. For a lot of people walking or running on a treadmill is a great way of helping them with this problem as it allows daily recommended exercise regardless of the weather.

2

Exercise Bikes (x5):

Benefits - Exercise bikes are great for cardiovascular fitness and toning/building your thighs! Exercise bikes are more ergonomically correct than traditional upright exercise bikes and they are an effective way to improve aerobic capacity, as well as burn fat.

For those members trying to loose weight, our exercise bikes are more comfortable than traditional uprights due to the relaxed seating position.

4

Concept Rowing Machines (x3):

Benefits - The rowing machine is another piece of exercise equipment ideal for losing weight. Rowing machines have great calorie burning potential because they exercise larger muscle groups of both the upper and lower body regions.

They help tone thighs and buttocks, and firm up the arms and the back muscles together. Another positive point about rowing machines is the ability for the user to create a rhythmic style whilst exercising. This technique really helps the body "switch" into the fat burning zone and after about 10 minutes of rowing you can be assured your body is burning fat constantly to help you lose weight effectively.

3

Racing/Endurance Bikes (x4):

Benefits - It's not just running that helps build up your legs. Using a bike can help tone your quad, calf and glut (buttocks) muscles as well as strengthen your tendons, without any load bearing.

If you're looking to improve your legs but want a break from running for a while, then the bike is the perfect alternative. Even better is to combine it with a resistance program in the gym. Just ask any of the instructors for a program to combine weights and the bike.

Machines / Free Weights

Cardiovascular exercise on machines such as treadmills and exercise bikes burns more calories than lifting weights, so is it just a waste of time adding strength training to your workout? The simple answer is no. Working your muscles as well as your heart and lungs can improve your health and help you drop clothing sizes faster!

While cardiovascular exercise is a great way of burning the fat, adding a little strength training to your workouts will burn even more calories during each workout.

Aerobic exercise may burn a few hundred extra calories, but for every additional pound of muscle you gain, your body burns around 50 extra calories every day of the week. Here are just a few of the weight machines and free weights we have at Better Bodies.
